I’ve bought a lot of Eve’s Langlais books. Her paranormal books are fun, interesting and make you go buy more. So I was not surprised by this new series she has going. So of course yes I bought the next one. The others will have to wait till next month. But Eve’s books are worth reading and the money to pay for them unfortunately, I’m on a budget so I have to wait. And it will drive me crazy, lol

Kept me guessing. Sex scenes were steamy. I want to continue the series.

Im legit confused as to how many stars this book has. The storyline is okay, it’s not your average romance, but it was extremely predictable. The whole book could have been finished within 10 chapters. There was so much unnecessary fluff added in. Every other line is stating the academy this, the academy taught me that, an assassin knows this and that. WE GET IT. He’s an assassin, he went to an academy, it doesn’t need to be reiterated so frequently.

Fast paced romantic thriller with something for everyone. Didn't want my new friends to leave when the book ended. Good thing there is a sequel.
  • Great Book!! I smiled All the Way Though!

This was such a great read! I smiled and laughed out loud throughout the book. Calvin is an assassin by trade and Lily is the single mother next door. The banter between these two was hilarious and only topped by the internal conversations each had with themselves. It was easy to overlook Calvin's profession and his stalker tendencies, because he was so lovable. I went in thinking this might be a really dark novel it turned out to be funny and lighter than I would have expected. The storyline was also strong and well developed. I was already a fan of Eve Langlais' paranormal novels, but now I can't wait to read the rest of the Bad Boy Inc series!!!
  • Thrilling from beginning to end!

What a great book! Ms. Langlais takes a diversion from the paranormal and alien genres into contemporary romance, and hits it out of the park! Throw away all the cheesy story lines, and everything you think you know about bad boys. This story drops us into an untenable situation for Lily, as she tries to make a new life for herself and her daughter. Of all the houses in all the neighborhoods around the country, she lands smack next door to a killer-for-hire. Will he make things better or worse for her? This story is very down to earth, and I felt like this could happen just down the street to someone I know. It’s relatable, which is so essential to a gripping story, and so different from a lot of the other books out there where you think “this couldn’t happen in the real world”. The characters have flaws, but are just trying to live their lives and find their way forward. They don’t pretend to be something they aren’t, but still keep their secrets close. Lily is fleeing with her daughter from an abusive ex-husband who won’t let go. Calvin is an assassin working for the highest bidder. Sparks and insults fly when they first meet, but the attraction is unmistakable. As their relationship threatens to become something more than just neighborly, Lily tries to save Calvin from her ex, so she fights the allure and pushes him away. Calvin has never been ruled by his emotions, but finds himself drawn to his beautiful neighbor and her daughter. A ready-made family never entered his mind before, but now things have changed. The more she pushes him away, the more he wants to be her knight in shining armor. Will they be able to escape the nightmares that have been haunting her? Will he be able to convince her that he is the man for her? Will her ex ruin everything? Whose secrets are worse, and what will happen when those secrets collide? Fireworks for sure, but only time will tell if they can survive the explosion.
  • Such an exciting story!

Calvin is a 'problem specialist' working for Bad Boys Inc. He's good at his job. He's got his life set up just the way he wants it. Until that cute single mom moved in next door. Lily is quite a handful. She's still dealing with her abusive ex, who never quits trying to force her back. She has a 4-year-old daughter, Zoey, whose welfare is her biggest concern. And she has secrets she's too afraid to divulge. Not your run-of-the-mill romance. It's unusual, edgy, exciting, sweet, scarily dangerous, and romantic. Dive on in to the beginning of a fascinating new series!

Assassin Next Door by Eve Langlais Romance and suspense. Hugely entertaining. When the hero is introduced with "I like shadows", you may expect dark and moody. Not this assassin. He loves his job. He is not a good guy. He's an assassin! And you can't help but like him. He's cheerful and quickly enamored with the little girl. The heroine is struggling to stand alone and support herself. She is smart and determined. And she certainly doesn't believe Calvin when he tells her truthfully that he is an assassin. It's a fast, compelling read with humor and grit. And in the last third, some spicy love-making. Wink. Excerpt: “You have to be firm with them. “Go back to your place.” He’d shooed the little girl. It seemed the most understandable gesture, and yet she blinked at him. “You can’t stand there.” He’d pointed at her house. “Go find your parents and insist they watch you more closely.” The little tyke then smiled. A gap-toothed brilliant thing that could have blinded a weaker man. She blinked long lashes and lisped, “Will you take me to my mommy?” “Uh…” She dipped her chin, and her eyelids fluttered. Little freckles across her nose crinkled. “Please.” Good God. The child was possessed by a dark force. Surely, she possessed some kind of insidious evil because Calvin had held out his hand and didn’t flinch when her sticky palm slid into his. Still under her dark spell, Calvin had said, “Come with me. I’ll take you home.” Call a f**ing priest! And that was how he’d ended up on a concrete porch, looming over a tiny woman as she cried.” Excerpt From: Langlais, Eve. “Assassin Next Door.”
