Description

#1 New York Times Bestseller!

In the second book of the Carve the Mark duology, globally bestselling Divergent author Veronica Roth reveals how Cyra and Akos fulfill their fates. The Fates Divide is a richly imagined tale of hope and resilience told in four stunning perspectives.

The lives of Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth are ruled by their fates, spoken by the oracles at their births. The fates, once determined, are inescapable.

Akos is in love with Cyra, in spite of his fate: He will die in service to Cyra’s family. And when Cyra’s father, Lazmet Noavek—a soulless tyrant, thought to be dead—reclaims the Shotet throne, Akos believes his end is closer than ever.

As Lazmet ignites a barbaric war, Cyra and Akos are desperate to stop him at any cost. For Cyra, that could mean taking the life of the man who may—or may not—be her father. For Akos, it could mean giving his own. In a stunning twist, the two will discover how fate defines their lives in ways most unexpected.

I am in awe of the creativity and imagination of Veronica Roth in these books. The world she created is vibrant yet so refreshingly different from the cliche fantasy and sci fi realms other authors continue to recycle. The characters are deep, flawed and real. This was the best book I have read in quite some time. Highly recommended.

Roth creates a world and web of connections that ultimately pushes an examination of the complexity of our own world. Although heart-wrenching and stained with the harshness of how cruel anyone can be, it has a soothing nature, a hum, that allows us to comfortably enter the complexities of each character.
  • A fateful and strong fínale

(Spoiler Alert) Before reading this book I heard Roth read the prologue and first chapter of TFD in a video promoting the book. Right then and there ( okay about a few minutes later) I figured out that Cyra was a real Kereseth and Akos was a Noaveck. It was startling and my curiosity killed as the days came to find out if I was right. So yeah I was right. Besides this big If and surprisingly info it was written in form the brings out the greatness, intricately complexity of relationship with the women who surround us. It was beautiful, brave, courageous and sometimes frustrating because as women we tend to be emotional and sometimes spiteful. Yet the way it was weaved and told from each perspective was written perfectly integrated with each pov from each character. The second part of the book was easier to digest and read. If you haven’t read the first it’s one to take in easily it is not a fast bang read. Yet it is worth slowly digestion page by page. Hope everyone else enjoys this.
