Description

I needed a job and a place to live, but after getting snowed in with an older oil tycoon I have to find a way to cool off first. From Marie Johnston comes an age gap, snowed-in with a dash of workplace romance. I got laid off and kicked out of the house I was sharing with my ex—on the same day. Faced with moving home and being put back in charge of my five siblings, I jump at a mysterious job interview. The only catch is that I hitch a ride with a local oil tycoon…on his private jet. Gentry King is also the single dad of the guy I’m interviewing with. Dads aren’t supposed to be that sexy in a suit, ooze power, or make me suddenly desire older men. All I have to do is get through one meeting in the middle of nowhere and then I can go my own way. Only a snow storm strands us in a small town. Gentry and I find the last hotel room available, and I’m so relieved when we get into the room I almost don’t freeze solid at the sight of one bed. I don’t need to risk my chances by sleeping with Gentry, but once I wake up next to him I don’t have a snowball’s chance in a fire pit of resisting. King's Crown is a standalone novel in the Oil Kings series.

Yes, we have an age gap. Yes, we have drama. Yes, there’s some angst. But it’s alllllll worth the hassle, I promise! Gentry and Kendall have a chance meeting and both feel sparks. But she’s on her way to an interview, or so she thinks, and he’s not interested in another empty time. Then the weather conspires against them. And they become almost friends for a second. But reality invades after Kendall proves just how useful she is in an office, she gets a job she didn’t know she wants, and then loses it due to drama and nonsense. But through it all, she and Gentry communicate. They both upend beliefs and expectations about them. They support each other. And they find love. I’ve enjoyed my time getting to know these two and now wonder if Beckett might find his match with Emilia’s help, or if he’s got enough game to figure it out on his own.

This was a sweet Age Gap story and I recommend it. Kendall's life is upside down so she is flying to Denver for an interview for Beckett King. Due to a snow storm, she gets stuck with Gentry King, CEO of King Oil. The two get to know each other pretty well because they are stuck in one room for four days. The two try not to get attached but it's inevitable.

This was a very enjoyable romance. Both Gentry and Kendall were interesting and charming characters in their own right. I thought their dynamic was fun to read about and they were believable as a couple.
