ONE OF TIME’S 100 BEST MYSTERY AND THRILLER BOOKS OF ALL TIME

This ebook edition contains a special preview of Tess Gerritsen’s I Know a Secret.

He slips into homes at night and walks silently into bedrooms where women lie sleeping, about to awaken to a living nightmare. The precision of his methods suggests that he is a deranged man of medicine, prompting the Boston newspapers to dub him “The Surgeon.” Led by Detectives Thomas Moore and Jane Rizzoli, the cops must consult the victim of a nearly identical crime: Two years ago, Dr. Catherine Cordell fought back and filled an attacker before he could complete his assault. Now this new killer is re-creating, with chilling accuracy, the details of Cordell’s ordeal. With every new murder he seems to be taunting her, cutting ever closer, from her hospital to her home. And neither Moore nor Rizzoli can protect Cordell from a ruthless hunter who somehow understands—and savors—the secret fears of every woman he kills.

“[A] top-grade thriller . . . Sharp characters stitch your eye to the page. An all-nighter.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

“Creepy . . . will exert a powerful grip on readers.”—Chicago Tribune

Wow! Couldn't put this one down. Was so sure one character was the villain. Then sure another was. Excellent writing. Can't wait to read another in this series.

I read this book a few years ago and I decided to re-read it, because I want to read the entire Rizzoli and Isles series. I loved this book then and I love it now. It is suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you want a good mystery, this is a must read!
  • I liked it

I liked it but I prefer the tv show & those characters. I prefer the confident & much friendlier Jane on TV to the unhappy, lonely, self-pitying Jane in this book.

I really enjoyed this book I watch the tv show every week and I like it too. I was very pleased when they gave Janes mother larger role. She's great. The book has just the right amount of medical jargon to be informative without showing off. I found myself wondering if the author has been sexually assaulted. Her description of the victims fears and feelings are spot on. While this book is not a literary masterpiece it's a good read on the beach or a lazy rainy day. I would recommend it without reservations.

This book kept you engrossed. It gives you enough twists and turns. A little gory; but was understandable for the plot. I just purchased whole series. I look forward to the rest.
  • Scary and a little gross

If you love a lot of thrill, action, suspense and a little tiny bit of romance, you will love the first book, the surgeon, in this series. The details of the murders are a little gory but I loved it. You won't be able to put this book down. You will be quickly rushing to dl the rest of the series. $8 well spent! Enjoy!
