Description

Fans of Thich Nhat Hanh’s Peace is Every Step and Anger, and Deepak Chopra’s Buddha, will appreciate Hanh’s wisdom and storytelling in his novel The Novice, which contains universal themes that transcend all boundaries of faith, creed, country, and era.

Through the parable of a young woman who stays true to herself and her faith in the face of adversity, Vietnamese Zen Buddhist master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh enables readers to embark on their own path of introspection and self-discovery.

With his trademark insight, Hanh presents a path to greater awareness of the means to manifest peace both inside oneself and in the world at large.

This book tells a wonderful old story of a Buddhist practitioner in Vietnam and finishes with an outstanding meditation on love, Buddhism, and our true selves.

The gentle strength that the Novice demonstrates is profound. The reader may see the gifts of their life beyond their current perceptions.

A great story with the message to help us all on that life's journey to become more compassionate to ourselves and others. I have Traveled to Vietnam many times and it was nice to be educated about Buddhists there and Thich Nhat Hanh's life. I am not a Buddhist monk, but I have the most respect for these people and I feel if we all could live with these values we would not be in a world of violence and confusion, but in a world of balance and understanding. Just listening to stories like this one makes me want to walk a more compassionate path.
