Novel is notable for its prophetic ideas, including the use of the airplane for warfare, the coming of a world war, and the development of a brutal, feudal society after the war’s destruction.

Wells was a prophet

HG Wells predicts future events and technologies with stunning accuracy. This book starts off in a small town that could be anyone's home town, and features a kid that you could have gone to high school with. He is, by chance, cast into the center of an apocalyptic war that threatens to end our way of life. Thrilling and darkly funny, The War in the Air is a must read.
