Description

Rudi Mackenize, now Artos the First, High King of Montival, and his allies have won several key battles against the Church Universal and Triumphant. But still the war rages on, taking countless lives, ravaging the land once known as the United States of America. Artos and his Queen, Mathilda, must unite the realms into a single kingdom to ensure a lasting peace.

If the leaders of the Changed world are to accept Artos as their ruler, he will need to undertake a quest to the Lake at the Heart of the Mountains, and take part in a crowning ceremony—a ceremony binding him to his people, his ancestors, and his land.

Then, once he has secured his place and allegiances, Artos can go forward, and lead his forces to the heart of the enemy’s territory....

  • What was the point?

I have loved every one of the change novels up until this one. It movies slower than molasses in a cold winter in Alaska. I bought the book right after it came out and still haven't finished reading it. I keep falling asleep every time I open it up. Tedious descriptions of boring on going battles does not make riveting reading. This will be the last one of this series I will buy. Too bad.

I have to say that when I saw all the negative comments I almost didn't purchase the book. $15.99 is a lot for an e-book of only 400 pages but I don't mind paying if is is as good as the past books. Well regretfully, all the naysayers were correct. The author should spend more time developing the story than describing what the character is wearing . You would think he would consider the fans who read all the books before this one who already know the characters. Truly an example of an author just trying to extend the conclusion of a saga to make a buck.

Wandering, pointless drivel that adds nothing to the story. It's sad. Pirating any further titles from here on out.

If I could I would return this book and ask for my money back. Mr. Stirling has clearly lost interest in this series, please just stop. Either way I have bought my last book in this series.

Now, a big battle, some time travel and a homecoming. After the battle, it took some effort to get through the rest. And somehow, this book did not move the story much further, compared to the earlier ones. He could have ended the whole thing when the quest was concluded. But hey, I will be back for more in Sept. 2013.. ;)
