Description

Top Shelf Productions is proud to present March, a trilogy of graphic novels co-authored by Congressman John Lewis (GA-5) and Andrew Aydin, with art by Nate Powell (Swallow Me Whole, Any Empire, The Silence of Our Friends, The Year of the Beasts).

March is a vivid first-hand account of John Lewis’ lifelong struggle for civil and human rights (including his key roles in the historic 1963 March on Washington and the 1965 Selma-Montgomery March), meditating in the modern age on the distance traveled since the days of Jim Crow and segregation. In March, a true American icon joins with one of America’s most acclaimed graphic novelists. Together, they bring to life one of our nation’s most historic moments, a period both shameful and inspiring, and a movement whose echoes will be heard for generations.

I'm reading this series for my GT 9th grade English class. I read this book in an hour in a half because it is that good! The book made me want to go out and stand for racial equality myself and it's only the first book.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr day, I purchased the March trilogy written by Congressman John Lewis and finished reading all three. The creators of this graphic novel series did a fantastic job! It was a wonderful refresher on the long hard fight for civil rights in America. Highly recommend his honest and brutal first-hand account.

As a proud black man, I really enjoyed reading this awesome book. Thank you John Lewis for sharing your extraordinary life. I'm in my late 50's. I don't remember reading much about my proud black history. It's a shame that I didn't have books like this when I was going to school. I was only privy to books about everything else, sad to admit. Our kids need to learn and know about our history as a people. All it seems is not fair. Sigh.....

I chose this as one of my summer reads...the contents were good, like a history refresher,or like cramming before an exam...It's a page turner,so when I got to the last page, and I didn't know it was the last page,I was disappointed...I wanted more...but overall,it was good.
