Unmatched wisdom. Beautiful in spite of its darkness.

I don’t know where to begin. This book is more than a memoir. It is a sacred gift; it is a compendium of deeply enlightened wisdom. The way Anneke Lucas writes about the psychology of disturbed abusers and the power structures that perpetuate their systems reveals profound insight into the human experience. Reading this memoir has allowed me to understand my own healing from a new perspective that ignites a deeply seated feeling of hope. The story is the definition of a page-turner, and I found myself researching every historical fact I could vet. Her claims, though extremely threatening to our conventional worldview, hold up against all scrutiny that my amateur investigative journalism could muster. I am left mystified, horrified, and with a sense of duty to do SOMETHING. I want to help. Lucas’s ability to share her story, in all its darkness and horror, with the effect of creating selflessness within me is the hallmark of someone truly acting in accordance with a divine mission. I couldn’t recommend this book more.
