I don't know where to begin but this one just went off the rails into where I couldn't finish it. The author lost me with the repeated unnecessary f bombs between Nick and Victoria then the breaking point is when you find out nick's sister gay and nick used his sperm to artificially impregnate his sister's wife...that's just freaking creepy!
  • Best one in the series! If you love heroines who don't need saving, this is for you.

Victoria was a fantastic heroine - tough, focused, loyal, but she also had a vulnerable side on the other side of her walls. As more of her sister's background was revealed, I did question Victoria's unwavering loyalty and her willingness to risk so much for Emily's poor choices. But the more I got to know Victoria, the more I understood the whys of it all. I loved how unsettled she became around Nick. Before they were thrown together, she'd always been cool, calm and collected. And calculating. Her virgin status wasn't as big a deal as it usually is in other books. She wasn't holding on to it for religious or personal reasons or out of social awkwardness. She'd just been extremely focused on bigger issues in her life that it simply never happened. Despite his reservations about being her first, Nick was thoughtful and sweet by giving her every opportunity to change her mind, which she forcefully rebuffed like a woman in charge. I loved the playfulness between them in that moment and the non-frantic coupling. In its own way and under those circumstances, it was about as perfect as it could get. The more they engaged, the deeper the feelings got, and I enjoyed their journey in acknowledging that they could have something special if they really wanted it. The author kicked up the hotness in this book. I don't remember any other couple being this....well, hot. The action and suspense did not play second fiddle to the sexual relationship. The balance was handled so well that I got the best of both worlds. The settings were described so well, and in great detail, that I could picture everything with great clarity. The foreign location made this anything but boring. Without the creature comforts of home and questions about loyalty flying around, I was constantly in the moment questioning everyone's motives. Victoria got a chance to shine at the end, and for once, the hero needed saving, not the other way around. THAT was awesome! Hot Rebel had the perfect balance of adrenaline fueled action and romance and sex. The tough heroine was an equal match for her hero, and I loved that the roles of playing savior were reversed for a change. If you haven't read any of the book in this series yet, I highly recommend picking this up. The best part about this series is that you could start anywhere and not feel lost. But keep in mind that all the heroes and their better halves make an appearance, so for some, that might be considered a spoiler. But seriously, snatch this one up. *Complimentary ARC provided by the author for the purpose of an honest review*
