New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to her world of dark passion and immortal power—and to one of the most seductive and impenetrable heroes ever to stalk the Guild Hunter landscape…

“Oh, Naasir. So weird, so bloodthirsty, so unique and wonderful…I have fallen for him…”—Fiction Vixen

Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows...and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…

I can't recall the name of the book I was reading before I started this one and stopped because it wasn't capturing my attention. I had no problem immersing myself in the Guild Hunter world Nalini Singh has so skillfully crafted. I read 16% in 45 minutes while walking on the treadmill at the gym and stopped when it was time to leave, mid chapter. Fast forward to midnight, about two hours later when I decided finishing the chapter was a good idea before I went to sleep...I finished the book at 3:41 am. There was no way I could put it down. I've long wondered about Naasir's origins and the special gifts and skills he brings to the trusted Seven, the trusted men in Archangel Raphael's circle. I had some feelings but nothing could've prepared me for his story. I was fascinated and spell bound. I loved that the story was told both through Naasir's eyes and Andromeda's. It really allowed me to get a great feel of what was going on in their hearts and minds, as well as what motivated their behaviors. Naasir is mostly feral and slightly civilized. I loved how he knew who he was and how confident he was. I loved how he wasn't willing to change for anyone, even if he was tempted to. He knew his value and didn't pay attention to those who didn't. I loved how he was respected for that as well. Naasir might have been alone and looking for his mate, but he was loved and respected by the men and women he worked with. His friends truly loved him, so he wasn't completely alone but he was still lonely. There were a number of scenes with Elena, Ashwini, and Honor that made me both happy and sad for him when he was reminded of this fact. I loved Andromeda as much as I did Naasir. While Naasir was quiet and observant, so was Andromeda. I loved how she was dedicated to her craft. I will also admit to loving she was bookish. I loved her thirst for knowledge. I really didn't like how her family treated her. I also didn't like how her life was placed in jeopardy for what she may or may not have known. I loved how she handled herself in these dangerous situations and finessed a way out of them. The only thing she really couldn't get a handle on was Naasir and her attraction to him. The two complimented each other beautifully. I loved watching them try and figure out each other while they tried to avert certain disaster from happening. Archangel's Enigma is more than just Naasir and Andromeda's story, even though it focused mainly on them. The story itself is phenomenal. There are twists and turns one could never imagine. There's action and intrigue. I loved seeing the other members of the Seven and from the Guild. I especially can never get enough of Raphael and Elena. I enjoyed seeing what was happening across the Refuge and in the other territories, even if it was nerve wracking at times. Nalini Singh stole my heart in this book, as she has with all the previous Guild Hunter series novels. She manages to write descriptively and with passion, making new worlds spring to life before my eyes. If you're someone who doesn't read paranormal, like me, she'll convert you to one and you'll be glad you did.
