  • Great book, needs trigger warning

First off: if you are sensitive to graphic depictions of rape, abuse, prostitution, slavery, and assault against men, women, and children, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. It’s a wonderful story, it really is. Incredibly emotional. The intimacy and relationships are strongly written and impactful. Peregrine is a very unique character and it’s thrilling to watch him manipulate and scheme along with his loyal (but honest and accountable) friends. There’s vengeance, reckoning, danger, wits, love, and forgiveness. But Silk and Shadows is also very, very graphic about violence and abuse. I wasn’t prepared for that before I started, and I needed frequent breaks in order to finish it. If it was that hard for me, how hard might it be for someone who has traumatic flashback to their own abuse or assault? A visible topic warning would have been very appreciated.

After reading book one of the Silk Trilogy by Mary Jo Putney, you can be sure I’ll be buying the next two books. Ms. Putney’s writing kept me entranced from beginning to end. Her plot flow and character development is excellent

Wow!!! I absolutely loved this book. It was exciting & well-written. Although I hated to put it down, at times I had to walk away from it for a minute because I was so moved by turns the story took. I highly recommend this book & look forward to reading more books by Mary Jo Putney.
