Description

Christmas alone

Caitlin chooses to spend her Christmas break from teaching this year clearing out the family home in southern Virginia recently left to her instead of enjoying the fun at her friend's wild family celebration. Soon she begins to question if this is the wisest move. Being alone makes it especially hard with the decisions she needs to make.

A determined man

Zach doesn't find the homecoming he expects when he pulls out all the stops to get home for Christmas. Chasing after Caitlin is not how he planned to spend his holiday. Things have a way of going off track, unless a determined man can find a way to change the past.

A Christmas locket

It would take a miracle to bridge the gap between them. Will the locket prove to be the key? Or will the new year find them going their separate ways once again—this time forever?

  • An Amazing Heartwarming Romance

"The Christmas Locket" by Barbara McMahon is Caitlin and Zach's heartwarming story. The couple is on the verge of a divorce. Zach is an international reporter who is gone more than he is at home. His job is very important to him. Caitlin is a school teacher and tired of living months at a time without her husband. I could feel the pain, frustrations, and joy that Caitlin and Zach experienced throughout the story. At times they would stop and reflect on how the other one feels instead of how they felt. But, is it too late for them to save their marriage? This story really stuck with me and reminded me of what is really important. Life may not always line up the way we planned but sometimes it's better. I also enjoyed the family history Caitlin discovered going through her aunts home. Zach and Caitlin's story is a touching romance and I am glad I went along for the ride. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is a short read, I read it on a leisurely Saturday morning. The plot is good. Caitlin and Zach have been married for six years. She lives in Washington while he is away in foreign lands reporting the latest news. The long absences have taken a toll on their marriage. Caitlin has inherited her late Aunt Sally's home. She goes to Virginia during Christmas break to clean up the house and try to make decisions about her future. Barbara has written a very thought provoking story. The first part of the story is Caitlin's point of view. She is lonely and misses her husband. She has decided to end their marriage. When Zach tracks her down at her Aunt Sally's house he doesn't get the reception he is expecting. We get to see things from Zach's perspective, and that perspective is very different from Caitlin's. We hear all the time "there are two sides to every story", but this story lets us see how very differently two people view the same incidents. We also see how two people react to the conflict between them. It is a very emotional story. I liked this story. I'm a little partial because I love Barbara McMahon's writing style and have yet to read a story by her that I didn't like. Romance readers that like a clean read will like this one. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Another touching, heartfelt and thoughtful story by Ms. McMahon. Caitlin, a school teacher, who has been married to Zach, a war correspondent, for 6 years. She has barely seen her husband in that time. She feels neglected and has come to a decision of terminating the marriage. Zach has traveled around half the world to surprise her for Christmas , and finds she has left town . He finds her in the history filled home of her aunt Sally, which she has inherited. Needless to say, he never expected Caitlin to be asking for a divorce . The story continues and old feelings are resurrected , but can this marriage be saved when she wants a husband and children, and he “seems” unwilling to comply? To get to the happy ending, we discover secrets .I loved the complexity of the characters, their imperfections, the fact that it was a credible plot and that it reminds us that nothing is black and white and alternatives do exist. Definitely a book to enjoy and reflect upon, knowing it will be worth your time. I received this book as a gift. The opinions are solely my own.

Caitlin and Zach have been married for six years, but he's only spent one year, seven months, two weeks, and three days at home. He's a news correspondent and is mainly in foreign countries. Caitlin has decided to end their marriage, but didn't want to tell him over an email or on Skype. Zach pulls a lot of strings so he can be home for Christmas, but Caitlin isn't there. Then, he finds the drafts she was writing where she's asking for a divorce. He has to find her! He doesn't want a divorce and he has to convince her! Her Aunt Sally recently passed and left her home on the James River. Looks like sleep and a shower will have to wait. He's going to Caitlin. One-click your copy and find out if their marriage can be saved or if it's too late, especially after Caitlin finds out Zach's secret.
