If you are looking for a quick, easy read, maybe have some time while out laying by the pool or beach, this one isn’t bad. Granted, it isn’t great either.
It’s the typical first meeting stirring in the pants for him, caveman-like inner thoughts, and her being drawn to him but hesitant.
Then it gets into their pasts. Skeletons in her closet, and he’s scorned from his previous marriage. I can see why she’d have some trauma and be hesitant to get into another relationship, as she was abused for years and it came to blows.
However, this man dwells and dwells on his unfaithful ex-wife, who of course is back and flaunting her body in the hopes that he bites the bait. I wanted to say, “Dude, just move on from the anger and resentment. Be glad you caught her cheating when you did.”
I think his past was played up a bit much. Most men would be bitter, no lie, but they wouldn’t dwell as he does. Of course the two main characters work through it all. It was a bit of a telenovela towards the end. Woman scorned attacks another, there is a kidnapping, attempted murder, etc.
Believable? Meh. Plausible? Again, meh. Overall? Not gonna win any awards or be in a book club, but it’s an easy read.
Loved it

Really loved this story. It’s a great example of love triumphing over evil. Chris and Elizabeth are perfect for each other!
One of the best books I’ve read

This book has been breathtaking. I love a good book with a twist and this book has all the romance, twist, anticipation and a happy ending with no cliffhangers. It keeps you wondering what will happen next and it’s impossible to put it down. I read it in a day. That’s how good it was.

The first book in The Daniels Brothers series, Behind Closed Doors, is filled with romance and danger. Elizabeth Marshall wants to leave the drama of her past and identity behind. Moving to a new town to start over seems to be the answer but a business trip puts her back into the sight of an unwanted stalker and a mother in law bent on revenge. The attraction between Elizabeth and her boss, Christopher Daniels, offers the security she’s lacking and the support of the Daniels family. Together they are able to meet the dangers that threaten Elizabeth.
This is an exciting and suspenseful read. I enjoyed it enough to read the rest of the Daniels Brothers series. Behind Closed Doors, Red Zone, Crossing the Line and What Might Have Been by Sherri Hayes are well written, enjoyable and do not disappoint. I highly recommend this author and this series.
