Firestorm

Romantic suspense is my favourite genre and in my opinion Rachel Grant is one of the best authors out there. I have read all her books and there isn’t a dud among them. Her heroines are smart and sassy, her heroes are strong, heroic but also believable and her books lead you on a journey that will excite and intrigue. She fits in plenty of drama, lots of heat and you never feel cheated by the ending. I can’t recommend any of Rachel Grants books strongly enough if you’re a romantic suspense fan.

Savannah James is CIA and is not very well liked by the men of Special Ops. They don't know her exact title, but know she's a "spy". Cal Callahan and Savvy are like oil and water, constantly bickering while fantasizing about each other. Their chemistry is off the charts. When Savvy chooses Cal as her partner, he reluctantly accepts the assignment. In reality, he's been asked to spy on Savvy while posing as a antiquities dealer. As Cal and Savvy work together, they soon realize they're being set up. On the run in the Congo, Cal and Savvy discover corrupt government officials, Russian Mafia, and an American preacher. Can they trust each other enough to destroy evil? Mystery, intrigue, rainforests in the Congo, mini history lessons, scorching hot romance.....this novel has it ALL!!! I loved this novel. Rachel Grant's masterful writing grabs you from the first sentence. Make sure you have the afternoon free as you won't want to put this one down once you start reading. It's the third novel in the series and can be read as a stand-alone, but I encourage you to read the others as they will give you more insight into the "mystery of Savvy". I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Review This book was amazing. Ms. Grant reaches deep into some serious things in this book, and it just was without a doubt wonderful. Many laugh out loud moments. Hot spicy moments. Others you don’t see coming. CIA covert operator Savannah James aka Savvy needs a partner for an operation which will for sure be dangerous. The person she picks is someone she knows does not like her. Sergeant First Class Cassius Callahan. He finally does accept. He’s in for some surprises. In the middle of the Congo starts the operation. What neither expected is that there acting in order to get intel is setting real sparks between them. Things start getting dicey. Someone is trying to frame Savvy and she doesn’t know who. Cal and Savvy are on there own. They need help but who can they trust?

Firestorm combines all the necessary elements to make it a bestseller thriller, and I can only hope for it to hit the big screen someday soon. It presents a very realistic world powers scenario with a realistic conflict where the outcome could indeed devastate the world. Highly suspenseful, very up to date in social women issues, a beautiful and romantic jungle adventure romance, hot and action packed to the very end. The hero, Sergeant First Class Cassius Callaghan is a charming, scorching hot, African American that will make you swoon right and left, and who will steal your heart from the very beginning. The heroine, Savannah James is a CIA covert operative who is beyond awesome that you simply cannot stop rooting for her.
