Description

He wants nothing more than to go back, until she walks in…

Combat-hardened Marine Jamie Colter is home in Glacier Creek pushing his limits to return to his unit after a mortar attack left him wounded. Despite his protests, his mom has hired a family friend to help him out. But the last person he expected to see was his teenage crush, more beautiful than ever. Suddenly Jamie has more to focus on than his wounds. He has two weeks to show Rachel that despite their past, he’s her perfect man.

Following her recent divorce, Rachel McCafferty heads to her hometown of Glacier Creek, Montana, to house sit for her parents, help out a neighbor’s son and reboot her life. She’s shocked to realize the “patient” is her younger brother’s best friend. He’s most definitely not the skinny teen she remembered. She’s amazed by Jamie’s brash confidence, sense of fun and good looks, and when he makes it clear he’s hers for the taking, she finds herself rethinking all her rules about younger guys.

The writing has lots of potential but the way the steamy parts were like porn and there are way too many of them. The hero was likeable but can’t even make up for the lack of strength of character of the heroine.

A Hot Montana Summer (Glacier Creek Book 1) by Karen Foley. This is Jamie Colter and Rachel McCafferty’s story. Jamie was Rachel brother’s best friend. He has always had a crush on Rachel. Their paths cross when Jamie is home recuperating from a combat injury and Rachel has come home after her divorce. Jamie is still extremely attracted to Rachel and wants her to give them a chance at true love. Rachel is definitely drawn to Jamie but struggles with age difference. Will Rachel take a chance on love? Jamie’s character was great! I love when a May-December story has the woman as the older one. Now, I enjoyed Rachel’s character too but at times Jamie acted older than her. In Rachel’s defense she lost confidence in herself from the way her ex husband had treated her when they were married. I read this story from beginning to end in one sitting. FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book that I have ever read by this author and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed meeting Jamie and Rachel and feel that this story can be pretty believable. Jamie’s been admiring Rachel since he was in Middle School and now their time is finally right. I would definitely be happy to read the next book in this series and hopefully get more of an insight into the relationship between Dylan and Laurel. Having children of my own with a significant age difference between them, I have seen first hand how they can have crushes on their siblings friends- it definitely seems like the relationship that Jamie and Rachel have could happen in real life.
