  • I don’t get the hate

When I saw the reviews, it was a lot of one stars, claims that it was the worst thing ever, etc. I heartily disagree. It isn’t an amazing piece of work, but then again few things are. What it DOES do is continue the story left over from WOTS in a very satisfying way. However, I will say there was at least one story decision I don’t like (that being the nature of atkos tarr) ,though that is a purely subjective thing and not a genuine critic of the book. All in all, a genuine good read and a worthy continuation of the story!

I greatly enjoyed the story and varied perspectives in this book! It was a lot of fun to read and I couldn’t put it down until I was finished.
  • Oh god why.

There are 82 chapters in a book that is 400 pages long. Also it has 15 different point of views. Putting aside its terrible effects on fan loved characters, social issues, and convoluted “got ya” moments this math just doesn’t add up. I want the 4 hours of my life back. Thankfully I bought this on Apple, or I would feel very sorry for the dead tree they printed on.
  • A Truly Epic Disaster

I walked into this novel with my expectations lowered as far as possible, with only the hope that Weismann could improve if given more freedom. Yet even these heavily curved standards were shattered, as this book promises upwards of 750 pages of frighteningly awful dialogue, irritating contempt for canon, baffling uprooting of entire character arcs, the offscreen death of a major character, and far more that escapes my mind at the moment. There are few pieces of literature that can make one hate what they used to love, however this disastrous conclusions of the Mtg story arc proves to be a notable exception.
  • This book is garbage

After the first war of the spark novel, I didn’t think Greg Weismann could do any more harm to the ongoing magic story but boy howdy, was I wrong! Just, save yourself the trouble and don’t read this folks.
