USA TODAY BESTSELLER

A Master Chief story and original full-length novel set in the Halo universe—based on the New York Times bestselling video game series!

October 2559. It has been a year since the renegade artificial intelligence Cortana issued a galaxy-wide ultimatum, subjecting many worlds to martial law under the indomitable grip of her Forerunner weapons. Outside her view, the members of Blue Team—John-117, the Master Chief; Fred-104; Kelly-087; and Linda-058—are assigned from the UNSC Infinity to make a covert insertion onto the ravaged planet Reach.

Their former home and training ground—and the site of humanity’s most cataclysmic military defeat near the end of the Covenant War—Reach still hides myriad secrets after all these years. Blue Team’s mission is to penetrate the rubble-filled depths of CASTLE Base and recover top-secret assets locked away in Dr. Catherine Halsey’s abandoned laboratory—assets which may prove to be humanity’s last hope against Cortana.

But Reach has been invaded by a powerful and ruthless alien faction, who have their own reasons for being there. Establishing themselves as a vicious occupying force on the devastated planet, this enemy will soon transform Blue Team’s simple retrieval operation into a full-blown crisis. And with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance, mission failure is not an option…

Haven’t even read the book, but I know it’s good. 😃

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, however the ending left me wondering: what were the assets that the master chief and his team acquired at great cost? What was their purpose? Hopefully those questions will be answered in a sequel.

This book was quite entertaining, after not reading any novels for a few years this kept my attention. The only issue I find with this book is that it is more of a set up book for halo infinite and doesn’t complete a lot during its story like some other books. Since it’s story is dependent on new outside material it by itself isn’t that great. Good if you want some backstory for halo infinite, bad if you are looking for a cool adventure story.

Fantastic installment and one of my favorites. There is a reference to nearly every other Halo book that has been written so far. An emotional journey to be sure as Reach is the place where it all began. I’m very excited to see how it ties into Infinite and potentially, Halo Wars 3.
  • Amazing story

Author, If you see this, just know you’re a very talented writer and I think you did an amazing job at laying the ground for another amazing story to come or maybe 2 ;)

Solid Halo novel. The story has got me very exited for the next game. They should make the story of this into a DLC. There’s a lot of scenarios in this book that I think would be very interesting in a game.

I’ve read a hand full of Halo novels and my favorite author of these, by far, is Troy Denning. Excellent writing that pulls you in and some callbacks to Denning’s previous entries made this a fun listen.
