One dimensional, cartoonish characters. Simplistic and predictable story development. Waste of money.

I’ve always been a fan of Christopher Paolini‘s books. I mean I’ve read the Inheritance series more times than I can count. But this book had me OBSESSED. If you are a fan of sci-fi, this is the book to read. It scratched an itch in my brain I didn’t know I had. INCREDIBLE

I downloaded this book because I was obsessed with the Eragon series. This book was okay. Sometimes it was a bit hard to follow as well as being a little “unbelievable” as far as sci-fi goes. Specifically the battle between Kira and Ctien crawling around on the jelly ship and some other sections. It was an okay book. Not the page turner the Eragon Series was

I loved the Inheritance Cycle and was really excited when I heard this book came out, but I was disappointed as I read it. The main character is nothing more than a bit of sarcasm and a sex drive. She was willing to give her hard-fought-for job away for a man, and even reading the first chapter showed that. When she went through an extremely traumatic event in the book, she didn’t really mourn, as if Paolini forgot that she should have been in a lot of pain. I found a lot of things that were in Eragon in this book, and while those scene were good in fantasy, they just fell flat in sci-fi, especially since I’ve already read them. There were a few more things that stood out to me, like a character who was described as having braids was named very similarly to the n slur, among other things. Overall, it’s a creative idea but I couldn’t read past the half point and had to put it down.

It has been a while waiting for this book. When I herd that this was in the works I wanted to get my hands on it. While reading this I was both shocked and impressed with all the hard science that was used. Showing the scale and scope of just where this story takes place. There is a lot of technical information throughout the book along with a lot of scientific jargon that might be hard to understand for some. Most of it I understood easily enough. Some things it took me a while to figure out due to it being part of the fictional science that allowed for the travel and communication between stars. All I all it is a wonderful read. I’m looking forward to another foray in sci-fi from this author.

Honestly, I was hooked. Great story. And then this zinger from out of nowhere. Like "oops. I need to clean up this mess" and change direction. Seriously disappointed.

This book might start a little slow, but a great read really the whole way through.

The premise of the book was solid but felt it went on and on. It needed a good editor. I skimmed the last 1/4 of the book and when I finished I was glad. It is a one time read for me.
