Description

From decorated Green Beret sniper, UFC headliner, and all around badass, Tim Kennedy, a rollicking, inspirational New York Times bestselling memoir offering lessons in how to embrace failure and weather storms, in order to unlock the strongest version of yourself.

Tim Kennedy has a problem; he only feels alive right before he’s about to die. Kennedy, a Green Beret, decorated Army sniper, and UFC headliner, has tackled a bull with his bare hands, jumped out of airplanes, dove to the depths of the ocean, and traveled the world hunting poachers, human traffickers, and the Taliban.

But he’s also the same man who got kicked out of the police department, fire department, and as an EMT, before getting two women pregnant four days apart, and finally, been beaten up by his Special Forces colleagues for, quite simply, “being a selfish a*****e.”

With his vivid and stirring voice, Scars and Stripes “is an authentic gut punch of a life lived with grit, resiliency, and a never-quit attitude in the face of heartbreaking failures and incredible success that every American can learn from” (Patrick Murphy, veteran and former United States Under Secretary of the Army). Kennedy reveals that failure isn’t the end—rather it’s the first step towards unearthing the best version of yourself and finding success, no matter how overwhelming the setbacks may feel.

I loved every part of it as a fan of mixed martial arts, first responders and the military. It taught me a lot about life and how to move forward through difficult circumstances.

I only knew Tim Kennedy for when he was screwed in the Yoel Romero fight. I never knew how this man had been fighting his whole life. Amazing read.

So many books want to cloak pushing self-improvement or inspiration into a life story. They promote if you do this, learn this, you will be inspired. Not this one. While I’m former enlisted military and love the genre, this is one of my absolute favorites for the brutal honesty, detail and even humor which are inspirational in a different way that say Goggins or Jocko talk about it. I recall the first time I saw TK in a fight, I thought that dude is a absolute arrogant kook and clown. I was wrong! That’s why it’s good to pause, listen and reserve judgement. Definitely a fan now!

Tim Kennedy truly knows how to captivate an audience. His storytelling is so natural and makes it easy to speed read through this entire book. Coming from a military family where my dad served in the Army for 22 years and my brother served for 4 and deployed overseas in Afghanistan, it allowed me to see a whole new perspective towards what soldiers endure. Highly recommend! Thank you for your service and sharing with the world your life ❤️
