This story took longer to read than I had anticipated. Rather than being well-written, it felt somewhat boring at the mid. The author is good at presenting small details but focused too much on the flow, missing opportunities to build excitement. However, they did make the story somewhat unique compared to other sci-fi works, and in the end, it turned out quite well. Now Shift!

“WOOL” is a scorching, writhing, steel-toed-boot kick to the head but in a good way. Yes, I saw the 1st two seasons before buying the books - that is a singular joy, that I cherish: reading the book a film or show - or both - are inspired by and picking apart the differences … probably because I’m a writer. I love that WOOL contains season one and two … getting me even more psyched to leap into the next book … ESPECIALLY after that season 2 finale! 🤘🤘🤘

The idea is fantastic don’t get me wrong but how was written is hard to digest, should had hired a good developmental editor.

I started this because I really liked the show, and I really loved it. Can’t wait to start the second book.
  • Perfect in every way.

This dystopian tale is perfectly paced, a world perfectly revealed, a perfect expression of human kindness and tragedy, perfectly dysfunctional. The pages didn’t flip fast enough with a new intrigue and adventure always a chapter away. The story is dark and heavy, but always leaves room for hope and a reason for optimism. The characters live in a microcosm of societal fatalism, but with enough light pushing in to allow the weeds of humanism to take root. I can’t wait to jump into the next!
  • Underwhelming

The book is too long for its substance and the whole story leaves an aftertaste of incoherence. I’m still going to watch the series but only because Stephen King rated it highly.
