Description

Look around you, everything you see will end up having to be disposed of one day. This includes the building where you may be reading this, the furniture you may be sitting on, the vehicle you drive, etc. Eventually, it will ALL complete its life cycle (i.e., creation, utilization, and disposal). This book deals with the last part of that lifecycle. Unfortunately, all of us will someday face a time when our mortal bodies are no longer useful and will have to be disposed of. Depending on your religious belief, or lack of religious belief will determine what you think happens next. My point is everything will ultimately become some type of waste. Waste has never been a 'sexy topic', most people want to ignore it altogether as long as they do not have to deal with or see it. We all think it is supposed to be someone else's problem after we throw our refuse in the trash bin, the recyclables in the recycle bin, the organic materials into the compost bin. Waste it’s not just the garbage that we throw away, it comes in many types. Some of these types of ways come in the form of pollution and greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc. Waste also comes in the form of inefficiency in a process, devices, defects, overproduction, etc. It is because of this prevailing attitude that the state of the environment is the way it is. The bad news is, we've been putting this issue off for so long it is now OUR generation's problem, and unfortunately we do not have the luxury of ignoring it anymore. It is also because of this situation that there is an opportunity for a lot of money to be made recovering discarded resources. In this book, I explain the current state of the waste issue, as well as pointing out some of the currently available solutions and opportunities. As well as discussing new technologies that are in the process of being developed. I am writing this book for anyone who wants to learn what they can do individually, as a group, as a business, members of government, innovators, or philanthropists that want to make a difference. It is the changes that we make as a whole working TOGETHER to reduce the waste we generate that will make a difference. Businesses can innovate and set themselves apart from their competition, as well as saving money by reducing waste in product production or service delivery. For the visionary entrepreneurs and philanthropists with the finances to invest in recovering resources that are being disposed of. While being a part of the next industrial revolution. For the legislators in government who set policies to protect the environment and incentivize businesses to do the right thing. While creating a level playing field for all the material providers (feedstock vs recycled).
