Description

In this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller, a burglar, Luther Whitney, breaks into a Virginia mansion, and witnesses a brutal crime involving the president—a man who believes he can get away with anything.

In a heavily guarded mansion in the Virginia countryside, professional burglar and break-in artist Luther Whitney is trapped behind a two-way mirror. What he witnesses destroys his faith not only in justice, but in all he holds dear.

What follows is an unthinkable abuse of power and criminal conspiracy, as a breathtaking cover-up is set in motion by those appointed to work for one of the most important people in the world -- the President of the United States.

If only all writers could be as good as Balducci.

The book is a very good read and far different from the movie most of the main characters are there but the love interest between Gloria Russell and the President, Tim Collin was not in the movie. Also the death of Luther Whitney and Kate Whitney moving away was not in the movie. I am truly amazed how Clint Eastwood pulled a great movie from a great book. It's a complement to his many years of acting, directing, and screenwriting.

I have been a fan of David's for many years & I have read many of his books, but not all. I did read Absolute Power many years ago. I just purchased an iPad! Now I am going to read every one of his books, in order on my iPad! The first thing I did when I turned on my iPad was download this iBook. What a thriller! The way politics are today, this book makes you wonder even more about those we elect! However, it also makes you question those who serve them! What dedication! What sacrifices! What a shame! Does POWER always corrupt? Unfortunately, the answer is YES & at every level! Think about this! How do you use all YOUR POWER in everything you do! When you go to bed at night, can you put your head on the pillow and go to sleep with peace of mind that you live your life correctly? I know Jack did! I know I try too every day! But TOTAL CONTROL is so tempting to many of us! Especially me! I'm going to download it RIGHT NOW!

The book is very good... Everything I've come to expect and enjoy from David Baldacci. However, there are far too many typos - they are distracting, annoying, and unacceptable for a published work. As we are paying for the book, I think it fair and reasonable to get a professionally finished product!
  • Great book; e-book has some typos which are distracting

Start of page 17, 1st word should be YOU instead of HOU
