Description

“A book about the complexities of combat that's just as applicable for dealing with the complexities of business and our personal lives.”—Kevin Sharer, chairman and CEO, Amgen

As a commander of Delta Force-the most elite counter—terrorist organization in the world—Pete Blaber took part in some of the most dangerous, controversial, and significant military and political events of our time. Now he takes his intimate knowledge of warfare—and the heart, mind, and spirit it takes to win—and moves his focus from the combat zone to civilian life.

In this book, you will learn the same lessons he learned, while experiencing what the life of a Delta Force Operator is like—from the extreme physical and psychological training to the darkest of shadow ops all around the world. From each mission, Pete Blaber has taken a life lesson back with him. You will learn these enlightening lessons as you gain insights into never-before-revealed missions executed around the globe. And when the smoke clears, you will emerge wiser, more capable, and better prepared to succeed in life than you ever thought possible.

Every military leader, from the lowest to the highest, should read this book. The higher the NCO or Officer, the more often they should re-read it.

In his novel, Pete Blaber provides extremely critical waypoints on how one should lead men. This unadulterated account ingrains in us how business is best conducted, whether in be in the mountains of Afghanistan, or a 55th story office on Wall Street!

Once you read this book you will understand......Blaber tells it like it is for leaders in all walks of life. Lessons learned in combat can absolutely carry into non combat situations. I have recommended this book to many of my friends and rave how it gives a no BS approach to common sense leadership and care for you people you lead! It (the book) possesses not only nuggets that you can use to infuse into you leadership styles, but also can push (in a good way) the common boundaries of traditional hierarchy of Command. What a Read!

This is a book that gives you a great idea on what is capable from a person when they have the tenacity that Commander Pete Blaber has. What I found amazing about this book, is that it really shows how there are people who can manage and there are people who can lead whether it is in the military or in business. The guiding principles are universal. But my favorite is always listen to the guy on the ground. Ask questions to people who have walked the road, seen what has not been seen, done what has not been done, it's those people that can help you grow and in Commander Blabers case, help you survive. Great book! Highly recommend it.

I couldn't stop reading. A must read for anyone interested in Spec Ops, Afghanistan, and military history. A large portion is about operation anaconda. He offers an interesting viewpoint, but I would definitely read "not a good day to die" if you want more about Anaconda.
