Description

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A modern classic—both poignant and funny—about a boy with autism who sets out to solve the murder of a neighbor's dog and discovers unexpected truths about himself and the world.

“Disorienting and reorienting the reader to devastating effect.... Suspenseful and harrowing.” —The New York Times Book Review

Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. And he detests the color yellow.

This improbable story of Christopher's quest to investigate the suspicious death of a neighborhood dog makes for one of the most captivating, unusual, and widely heralded novels in recent years.

I can’t think of another book in which I hung on to every word but that’s what happened with this one. If a book makes you laugh and cry while teaching you something you didn’t know before then I recommend it. Sometimes that criteria can be met without a great story, but this story is wonderful. Triumph, determination and the unbending will to do what’s right, bravo.

I, as a person with a physical disability found the book infuriating and upsetting! I have lived through situations described in this novel. I understand it is supposed to raise awareness for our daily struggle but for me, it only brought back painful memories! I use reading to escape my stress and calm my mind. I will not be finishing the book! Would give 0 stars if I could! I can’t believe my school made this required reading for the summer.
