On Ganymede, breadbasket of the outer planets, a Martian marine watches as her platoon is slaughtered by a monstrous supersoldier. On Earth, a high-level politician struggles to prevent interplanetary war from reigniting. And on Venus, an alien protomolecule has overrun the planet, wreaking massive, mysterious changes and threatening to spread out into the solar system.

  • Love a good mystery

This has many overarching story arches at play that leave just needed to keep reading. Has a great mystery of a “who done it” while still showing what’s happening outside of the main storyline to keep you in tension the whole way through. Even better than the first novel in the series!

A great follow up book from the original that maintains the plot and tension. If you liked the first one, you’ll love this one too.

I really like this series so far and i’m glad I haven’t seen the show yet. The one thing that makes me give it 4 stars is its lack of lgbt characters and its straight guy perspective. It’s not horrible, but you can tell and I just ignore those parts because the story is so intriguing.
  • Made Me A Believer

I must admit it took me almost two years to read the first book in the Expanse series which is called Leviathan Wakes, I would read a little bit of it, then come back to it months later, I just couldn’t see what all the hype about the Expanse was. After finally finishing Leviathan Wakes, which I admit is a ok read, I read the next book in this series Caliban’s War and couldn’t put it down. One of the main characters Avarsarala is a foul-mouthed grandmother, and a politician who easily became my favorite person in the book. Believe the hype of the Expanse series it’s definitely worth reading.

Loving the series so far. The only qualms about this particular book was the swearing. So many "f-bombs" and what seems 99% coming from one character. That's the only reason for the three star. Otherwise I would have given it a five!
  • The Second Book in The Expanse Series Carries on the Adventure!

In many series, in the second book the story slows down, and maybe even drags. This is not the case here! There are new and exciting developments, new and interesting characters, and the return of the primary characters from the first book. The previous threat to humanity inhabiting the solar system reappears in an unexpected place, the factions of humans act against each other and the threat, and our heroes try to intervene, and save a little girl in the process. It is another action packed space-opera in the style of "Leviathan Wakes" with some new cast members that you will really like.
