The cutest book I’ve read so far but omg did they have to rip your heart out of your chest? Such a tragedy but still the sweetest book!

It’s a good book, some bits have a lot of rape in them but it’s about Greece and their gods so. The love story itself is beautiful. I would say it was weird as adult to read about two teenage boys having sex. Umm just like wish I had a bit more understanding what this book was and if it’s marketed towards a teenage audience that’s fine but yeah overall a decent book but I wouldn’t recommend it to other adults or people over the age of 18.
This book ripped my heart into shreds

Have you ever been so overwhelmed with emotion that your eyes well up but the tears won’t fall? That was my experience with this book.
Like many modern-day bookworms, I grew up with a fascination for Greek mythology and eagerly read any mythology-based stories I could find as a kid (The Percy Jackson series was my childhood). That is to say, I had expectations for this book, both for the storyline and the artistic retelling. And I was pleasantly surprised. I went in expecting a fresh, modern interpretation of the classic poem, and what I found was the most heart-wrenching story I’ve ever read. It was more devastating than I could have ever imagined.
While Madeline Miller does a great job of retelling her version of The Iliad, what I appreciated the most was her ability to seamlessly integrate tidbits of Greek mythology into such an evocative, emotional tale.
Through her artful writing, I experienced the characters’ deepest thoughts and emotions in a way that I never had with any other book. This has become my favorite book, and I’d recommend it to anyone.
Favorite book of the last several years

This book is responsible for returning the joy of reading to me. While I read the occasional book after grad school, Song of Achilles was the first in a decade or more to draw me in and not let go - when I wasn’t sneaking moments to read this book, I was thinking about this book. Miller’s writing is so beautiful and her research and period representation is flawless as far as this Bronze Age Aegean art historian can tell; SoA is an undeniable treasure of contemporary literature and one against which all classical myth retellings should be judged. I wish I could give it more stars ❤️
Ignited my love for reading again
