An art student and monster's apprentice must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people in this riveting sequel to the mesmerizing, acclaimed book Daughter of Smoke & Bone by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor -- now with a gorgeous new package!
Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.

This is not that world.
Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is--and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.
In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.
While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.
But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?

The second book of the trilogy, again, is beautifully and exquisitely written. Laini Taylor's style of writing is phenomenal. I absolutely love the books and trust me, if you've read the first book already, you'll want to read the next two because they will blow you away.

I loved the book, but was a little frustrated getting through all of the wars and killings and resurrections to find out at the end "to be continued".

This might just be my next obsession. Where I was delightfully surprised by the engaging Daughter of Smoke and Bones, I am reaffirmed that Ms. Taylor may very well be the next great American storyteller. With succinct prose, Ms. Taylor expands her love story into a darkly complex epic fantasy. The simplicity in which she writes draws the reader into falsely trusting her, and once again I was amazed at how easily she surprised me. Like George R. R. Martin, she has a flair for the operatic twists. Once again, the ending felt rushed and disjointed (I am still waiting to feel something by the last chapter other than cheated), but her genius storytelling makes me want more.

The first book was amazing, at first I didn't want to read it, it was just a free signed book at comic con, yet that's how I get into most of my favorites anyways. And when I read that book I felt like I was there, in her world, felt her love and her betrayal. I know this book will mold people's feelings into to the book, and will bring a great story that many will want to read over and over again!
