Long-winded

I enjoyed the overall plot of the book, however, the author doesn't quite know when to quit. On my e-reader, this book was around 600 pages, but it easily could have been 250. The author breaks up conversations to insert the narrator's completely unimportant and uninteresting thoughts. Sometimes this went on for 3-4 paragraphs and by the time the conversation resumed, I had often forgotten what was even being discussed.
It took me nearly a week to finish this book because it was so dreadfully long-winded. Unless you are a gifted speed reader and can discern the useless fluff from the meat of the story, I don't recommend this book. It's actually quite sad because the plot is good. Perhaps if the author took another swing at it and edited out all the nonsense, it would be a nice, cozy mystery.
