Description

I've never been one for rules.

Being a soldier for the Gruco Crime Family has done more for me than I can fully express. It's given me purpose, a home, and above all else, an outlet for my more sinister desires. But for as much as the familia gives, the rules they put in place to tame me take away.

For years, I've used my position to feed my demons, but they've never been fully satiated. I never knew just how starved I was until I meet the curly-haired good girl with a taste for sin that matches my own.

She owes the Gruco's money, and I happen to be the debt collector. When she makes me an offer that will quench my thirst after all these years, I can't refuse … no matter what rules I have to break.

A note about Gruco Crime Famiy:

This is an 18+ standalone mafia romance series with varying tropes and heroes with diverse personalities, intentions, and tolerances for violence. Because of this, each book can be very different, and it's perfectly okay to hop around! Here's a brief breakdown of the series.

His Promise - Gritty and spicy but not very dark with an alphahole hero and a fake relationship.

His Pet - DARK. Lorenzo is out for revenge, and he's going to get it.

His Prize - Gritty and spicy but not very dark with an alphahole hero and a forbidden love.

His Puppet - Mid-level dark with a captive heroine.

His Property - DARK. Hero is a sadist who loves pain play.

His Passerotta - Low-level dark with a captive heroine and a hero who is soft with her.

WOW! So if you’ve been following the Gruco family, you are aware the intensity of violence, mafia, gore, and definitely borderline psycho Spice is a common staple. His Puppet blows all of that out of the water and then some! It’s definitely conflicting and still you’re rooting for a positive outcome. I will say I loved how this book was written as almost two complete storylines interwoven to create the story! This will keep you holding your breath from the beginning thru the last sentence. Please take the disclaimer to heart as their are really graphically detailed content. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

“I’ve been destroying my life one heartbreak at a time…” I don’t know how it happened, I certainly never expected it was even possible, but I actually fell in love with Victor. Yes, Victor. Violent, sick, terrifying Victor. The only one more twisted than my Lorenzo. The same man who scared the crap out of me since the beginning. I realized when I read His Puppet that there was more to him than we had seen up until then. Just the fact that Lorenzo constantly defended and protected him should have been the giveaway. Lorenzo knows everything about everyone so of course he knew all of Victor’s secrets. He knew exactly why Victor was who he was and that he was capable of so much more. Once I saw everything Victor was hiding I, too, saw the lonely damaged soul inside. How perfect is it that all it took was love to let the real man out? Mae really truly is Victors perfect soulmate. They were exactly what the other needed and couldn’t ever be complete without each other. I enjoyed every moment of them falling in love, which surprisingly wasn’t as heartbreaking angst filled as the last three books were. I was a little surprised about that but there was enough pain and suffering in Victor’s past. He didn’t need any more. And just because their love story wasn’t as fraught with doubt and worry as the other’s were didn’t make this book less exciting. There was still plenty of action, drama, intrigue and surprises, enough to keep me guessing right to the end. And what an unpredictable twist that included! I never in a million years saw that coming! One more member of the familia left. Anthony. While I’m thrilled we will get his story as I’ve been hoping we would, I’m a bit disappointed that it will be a novella in an anthology and not a full length book. I can’t help thinking Anthony deserves a real book. I’m also a little heartbroken as I don’t want this series to end. I don’t want to have to say goodbye to these characters I’ve come to love and who feel so very real to me, most especially my Lorenzo. Thank you, Nicole, for bringing them into my life. I can say with all honesty, the Gruco Crime Family is one of my all time favorite syndicate romances ever, and I’ve read a lot, so that’s saying something. If you’re new to mafia type romances or if you’ve long been a fan of the genre, I very much recommend this entire series. I promise, you’ll love them, too.
