Description

Star baseball player Bishop Henson was Bailey Landon's biggest crush—until every interaction with him leaves her believing that he's nothing but a playboy. Unfortunately, she keeps running into the infuriatingly handsome athlete at every turn. But she has bigger issues, including figuring out a way to save her family's farm. Right now, she doesn't need the complications that come with a relationship, and she's not about to risk her heart to the local baseball team's celebrity shortstop.

At least that's what she thought.

It turns out, that there might be more to baseball's biggest player than meets the eye. Can Bishop change Bailey's mind about him? Or will these two opposites strike out in the game of love?

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review. If you have read the authors previous series about the Moore family, this story takes place in the same world and also includes those characters. It stars Bailey who is one of Di Moore's friends and Bishop who is a baseball player with Clark Moore on his team. While it is part of the world, this story stands alone very well. This story can be considered a second chance romance as Bailey and Bishop have known each other awhile. Bailey, age 33, has crushed on him, but she got over it when she saw some things he did and had a really negative opinion of him. Meanwhile Bishop, age 28, yes, he is a younger guy, has noticed Bailey but not wanting to risk his friendship with the Moore family because romantically he is a bad bet, he never took a shot with her. This is a story about discovering who you are, the good, the bad and the awesome. It's about taking a chance and believing in yourself and risking yourself for a chance at a true love. It's a story about growing up, maturing and growing up into the person you want to be. There is a tiny bit of drama with a fling of Bishops, but I love how he dealt with it. It showed his maturity and how he is feeling about Bailey. I adored seeing the Moore family again and how the family is growing and changing. This was a really fun, hot and sexy story and I loved how the two characters are so drawn to each other and can't fight their feelings for each other. If you love a sassy female lead and a hot and sexy baseball player who cannot resist each other then you will love this romance.

The author returns to the adorable town of Banneker (see Perfectly Imperfect series) to start a new series call "Brides of Banneker." It's the perfect set up of small town rom-com. It's funny, sweet, and heart warming. I'm not the biggest fan of instalove stories, and this story really is insta, but it's also a bit of a slow burn, which I found intriguing. While there isn't really any spice, there is plenty of chemistry and steam, and the witty banter and teasing between Bailey and Bishop is what made me fall in love with this story. Both Bailey and Bishop are my favorite types of characters. Bailey is a strong female, her life isn't perfect, she has real world problems, and she doesn't whine about it, just does her best. Bishop is a total cinnamon roll and that's all you really need to know (IMO). The way Bailey and Bishops friends react to the highs and lows of their relationship were really well done. I like how their was support and honesty and just how the situations were handled. Though Di and her love of all things romance did edge on the side of annoying, which if you're familiar with the Perfectly Imperfect series, is on brand.
