Mitch is blessed with the gift of storytelling. He draws you into the story and keeps you wanting more. This story has so many layers that you can read it several times and pick up something new.

He writes in a way that I can read it straight through as I did with The Five People… or pick up and put down as I did this one. Easy to follow his plots and characters
Heroic, Beautiful story

A page turning well written historical fiction that reminded me of the horrors of WWI. With a few protagonists, their separate but connected stories kept the tale exciting and hopeful.

It’s a war story, but covers feelings, courage, family, forgiveness, and courage.

Wonderfully written. Tuesdays with Morrie was a nice story, I just felt trapped in cliches. This book has echoes of that but avoids that in a way. Beautifully engrossed me in history, with a unique perspective in the holocaust for sure. Thanks Mr. Mitch Albom!

I have been a fan of Mitch Albom for a long time now. This is another beautiful story that takes the reader through the darkest of times and brings you back. Thank you Mitch for another touching story.

This has to be the best book I’ve ever read. So good I read it again like you would watch a movie for the second time before leaving the theater. Just beautiful!

I had never heard anything about the Greek experience during the war, so this book was of particular interest. The writing style is simple, but the way the characters and the story weave in and out uncovers many deeper truths. Of course, the story resonates now even more.
