Description

A girl with secrets. A bad boy in trouble. A community out to get them.

Driven out of her friendship group, Sophia finds comfort in all the wrong places. The secret she keeps will tear her world apart and it’s easier to become involved in someone else’s troubles than face her own. Stepping out of her seemingly perfect life and model home, she finds a whole other world on her doorstep.

Is it possible to sit in class with someone for four years without seeing their hunger, the holes in their shoes or the bruises on their body? What would you do?

Honestly, surprised at how this books kept me turning every page. Though it started off a bit rough, I enjoyed the overall message of the book and the budding romance between two very different people, I would say this book was full of surprises, hardships, and a chance to see the world from a different perspective.

As much as I liked this book, it was frustrating and heartbreaking that so much of the chaos and trouble all of these characters felt could have been solved by having an honest conversation with one another. Frustration aside, this was well written and I continued to power through in hopes of a happy ending for everyone. The happy ending didn’t quite come but the ending certainly leaves me curious to know what comes of these characters.

I couldn't stop reading. I started this book two days ago, and read through more than half of it within a day. The storyline - perfect. The suspense? AMAZING. I will be reading books 2 and 3. 🤍

Graphic tale of bullying. It really hit home. But it doesn’t just go on in the poorer areas. Some of the richer kids I’ve known were worse.
