Description

New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver delivers a raw and heart-pounding story, perfect for fans of E. Lockhart's We Were Liars or Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects.

Dara and Nick used to be inseparable, but that was before the accident that left Dara's beautiful face scarred and the two sisters totally estranged.

When Dara vanishes on her birthday, Nick thinks Dara is just playing around. But another girl, nine-year-old Madeline Snow, has vanished, too, and Nick becomes increasingly convinced that the two disappearances are linked.

Now, Nick has to find her sister, before it's too late.

In this edgy and compelling novel, Lauren Oliver creates a world of intrigue, loss, and suspicion as two sisters search to find themselves, and each other.

Really well written when it comes to how the characters are painted. I enjoy the way she makes you feel so many emotions while you are reading, almost like you are experiencing what the girls are experiencing. However I knew the ending and the “twist” right away. Which was a major disappointment because I kept hoping I was wrong. And I feel like the plot of the story wasn’t defined. There was sort of three, One about the sisters and a sub-plot about the underage girls, and then the missing girl?! it’s a little all over the place. But still a fun read!

The twist at the end of the boom makes you want to re-read the entire book without rushing through it. I was soo eager to get to the end and find out what happened with the missing girl. It exceeded my expectations! Great book!

The first 2/3 of the booked seemed so slow but I chose to hold on. I felt something was going to happen. After pushing through it all came together and made sense and made me want to read again. I love how this author is so good at describing feelings I've never known how to describe before. I felt like I understood myself more in some of her illustrations of the simplest feelings and emotions. Good read.

Oliver does a superb job of setting this mysterious teen thriller. The story is woven with eerie images and haunting clues. The characters are real enough, their voices distinct and leading. I couldn't put this one down, reading it within a day. I do have to admit I had the mystery figured out halfway through the book, but the unveiling of it still held some surprises. The jumping around between dates and points of views was a little confusing in the beginning but as I became wrapped up in the story it was easier to follow. A great book to read on a dreary, dark day!
