Description

The Troubleshooters return in the latest thriller from New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann! Some Kind of Hero showcases Brockmann’s signature white-knuckle suspense, romantic twists, and sexy Navy SEALs.

Navy men don’t come tougher than Lieutenant Peter Greene. Every day he whips hotshot SEAL wannabes into elite fighters. So why can’t he handle one fifteen-year-old girl? His ex’s death left him a single dad overnight, and very unprepared. Though he can’t relate to an angsty teen, he can at least keep Maddie safe—until the day she disappears. Though Pete’s lacking in fatherly intuition, his instinct for detecting danger is razor sharp. Maddie’s in trouble. Now he needs the Troubleshooters team at his back, along with an unconventional ally.

Romance writer Shayla Whitman never expected to be drawn into a real-world thriller—or meet a hero who makes her pulse pound. Action on the page is one thing. Actually living it is another story. Shay’s not as bold as her heroines, but she’s a mother. She sees the panic in her new neighbor’s usually fearless blue eyes—and knows there’s no greater terror for a parent than having their child at risk. It’s an ordeal Shay won’t let Pete face alone. She’s no highly trained operative, but she’s smart, resourceful, and knows what makes teenagers tick.

Still, working alongside Pete has its own perils—like letting the heat between them rise out of control. Intimate emotions could mean dangerous, even deadly, consequences for their mission. No matter what, they must be on top of their game, and playing for keeps . . . or else Pete’s daughter may be gone for good.

Suzanne Brockmann is a master storyteller. Her characters are “alive” with passion and humor. Brockmann’s Navy Seal books are keepers...every one of them!

Ms Brockmann never disappoints. The SEAL 16 team characters are always fascinating and real. Izzy never fails to make me laugh! Can't wait for the installment when Izzy & Eden's offspring makes his/her debut. I hope there will be more to Shay & Peter's story in upcoming books. Shay is a RIOT!!'

received a free copy (from NetGalley) of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. All I can say is WOW!!! This book took some time to get through. WHY you may ask?! Is because there were times that the conversations were so hilarious that I had to put the book aside. Shayla is a romance writer and her main character Harry has a great comical dialogue throughout the story. Five stars doesn't do the book justice. It deserves at least a perfect 10!!! The book contains POVs from several characters not just the two main ones (Shayla and Peter). You get more of an in-depth view of the characters and plot this way. The book evolved in a way that keeps the reader glued to the pages. You can't help but stay tuned for the action and hilarious interactions of the characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone you loves suspense, adventure and laughter along with their romance!!!!

I'll confess. I'm a busy, high powered female marketing executive and SB is my escape and not-so guilty pleasure. Loved this story as I do all her books. The blend of hotness and humor is always a winning combo. There's really only one problem. Not enough time. Mine or hers. I want more books as fast as she can write them. My days are stressful and I need my escape. Help me SB, you're my only hope!

This book is hard to put down. The suspense is riveting and the love stories also. The hero turns out to be someone you wouldn't suspect and maybe he can be a hero of another story too. I'd like that. Seal dad trying to find his runaway daughter with the help of his romance writer neighbor turns out to be a great story line. I recommend this book highly.
  • Once again, great characters from TS

First thing's First, if you're here to check in with all the heroes from the previous TS books, you'll be a little disappointed. Izzy, Adam, and a few others feature prominently, but this entry seems to be turning its sights on a new wave of characters with Boat Squad John going through their training. The one thing that stuck out most to me (aside from the well done romance) is the way Maddie, the daughter of the male lead, was written. Without giving too much away, Grunge's daughter gets in way over her head thanks to a crowd she's running with in school and is given a very short grace period to fix the situation, or sleep with the fishes. When presented with this situation, most high schoolers would probably run and scream for help from their family, and a handful would actually think they're capable of fixing things themselves. Grunge's daughter definitely comes across as the stubborn and headstrong type, and it's written convincingly. I still hated her every time she refused to call Grunge and Shayla for help, but I never wanted to skip her sections of the book either. All in all, I loved this entry and can't wait for another TS entry!
