Description

The #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Words of Radiance, from epic fantasy author Brandon Sanderson at the top of his game.

In Oathbringer, the third volume of the New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive, humanity faces a new Desolation with the return of the Voidbringers, a foe with numbers as great as their thirst for vengeance.

Dalinar Kholin’s Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost: The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction, and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

Nestled in the mountains high above the storms, in the tower city of Urithiru, Shallan Davar investigates the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant and unearths dark secrets lurking in its depths. And Dalinar realizes that his holy mission to unite his homeland of Alethkar was too narrow in scope. Unless all the nations of Roshar can put aside Dalinar’s blood-soaked past and stand together—and unless Dalinar himself can confront that past—even the restoration of the Knights Radiant will not prevent the end of civilization.

  • Best Stormlight book

With their whopping page counts, the Stormlight archive books can definitely be intimidating and daunting to read. While I did find myself feeling that prior and during my reading of this book, this book has become one of my favorites. This book made me laugh, cheer, and cry. Dalinar’s character and his story has got to be one of the best journeys in fantasy. I grew to love each and (almost) every character in this series. With each book the world of Roshar gets deeper and deeper and more complex, but it always keeps you interested. Recommend to all fantasy fans.

This series just keeps picking up steam. As soon as one mystery is cleared another one pops up. The characters remain engaging and interesting. Definitely a landmark in the world of epic fantasy.

So much time spent talking about Kaladin just to end up surpassed by other characters I thought he was going to end up being the strongest or something really special, nope. Kinda like what happened with Jon snow from GoT. They talked about his bloodline then at the end he ends up being nothing so why even waste so much time talking about him. The going back in time parts were so boring I almost quit reading the book, instead I just skipped ahead whenever it started talking about the past. Then theres the jumping around between characters every other page, i dont know how I managed to finish the book. The first two books were really good but this one was boring and disappointing i wont be reading the next one, im out.
  • Awesome book.

I am love this series and have absolutely devoured every one of the books…until this one. I’m not sure if the setting was the problem, the focus on the ever-indecisive King as the main character, or just fatigue from reading nearly 4500 pages of content. Either way, this one didn’t hold up as well for me.
