Description

Liam’s a single dad of twins and my best friend, so sleeping with him probably wasn’t a good idea. From Marie Johnston comes a small town, single dad, friends to lovers romance. After my husband’s funeral, I had a breakdown that lasted for a month…or twelve. But now I’m reemerging, healing, and finding my way. It’s time to learn who I am, and whether or not I can fix a leaky sink. By my side the entire time is my husband’s best friend. Liam Barron. The single dad knows a thing or two about personal struggles—and how to replace faucets. We were close before, but Liam’s become my best friend. With him, I feel alive again. Confident. And unexpectedly—sexy. Except if my parents, my in-laws, and the rest of the town had any say, I’d stay the needy, young widow who can barely get out of bed. Little do they know, when I think about lingering between the sheets, Liam’s also on my mind. How do I tell them what’s so hard to admit to myself? That like it or not, I’m ready to move on and I want to do it with Liam. But how can I risk my friendship with the most important person in my life just to feel whole again? Make Me Whole is a standalone novel in the Oil Barrons series.

The characters came to life. Some were a bit flat and lacked development, but they weren’t the important ones. The story-line was sweet with the requisite HEA. Over all it was a good read.

📖This is my first Marie Johnston book and I really enjoyed it! The love, angst and heartbreak are so beautifully written and spoken through these characters. Liam is a hard working single father who’s had his share of heartache. He’s a good man who takes care of others and is a talented artist. Kennedy is broken - heartbroken, physically and mentally broken. She has suffered an immense loss. She is trying to move forward and her husbands best friend is helping her along. Liam and Kennedy’s friendship is so beautiful and loving…but can it stand the test of time? Marie writes about grief, mourning and finding your way back in such a loving and respectful way. You will be filled with emotions while reading this story. 🎧The audiobooks is fantastic. Lee Daniels and Tyler Darby execute a beautiful narration of Make Me Whole. The emotions for both characters, from each narrator, is masterfully delivered with tender and soothing voices. Each event the characters experience is delivered with the right tone and emotion. This is my first audiobook from Lee and Tyler - I look forward to listening to more of their books. Congratulations Marie, Lee and Tyler on a beautiful book. I received a complimentary copy and I am leaving my honest review.

A powerfully written book about recovering from grief and a second chance at love. That sentence makes it sound much heavier and more ponderous than this story is. It’s really a very hopeful and uplifting tale of the recovery process, and one woman’s healing and growing, as she gains strength and finds herself after the death of her husband. What makes this book so powerful, is this couple was married so young, she went from being a high school sweetheart, to a wife, to a widow in just a few years without growing into herself during that time. So this story not only helps her heal, but we watch her grow into the strong, independent woman we know she can be. The romance is a solid slow burn, feel good all along. I just kept encouraging them each step of the way. As I said, it’s powerful and strong, and I loved it. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.
