Demand controlled ventilation (DCV) can meet ventilation requirements without wasting energy in under-occupied buildings. About six years ago, DCV was first discussed in this column. (1) Updates to ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007 (2) and continued development and research in the field make this a good time to revisit the topic.
