Ammonia absorption refrigeration's (AAR) ability to be powered by waste heat means this more than 150-year-old technology has an important role to play in reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Nevertheless, the engineering community has mostly discounted or ignored AAR, usually because of a variety of misperceptions. This article addresses those misperceptions, and hopefully reveals the promise of AAR sufficiently to invite further investigation. 'There is Nothing New in AAR'
