Description

Power outages. Runaway brides. Collapsed wedding cakes. Tainted caviar. Handsy grooms.

And the always classic: jealous MILs who wear white.

No wedding catastrophe can faze Katie Gallagher, because when you plan for the worst, you deliver the best.

The best wedding ever.

Her company, Wedding Protectors, Inc., promises happily ever afters. Guaranteed. Whatever it takes.
But always-prepared Katie? She’s steering clear of her own HEA. Years of dating older, wealthy, alpha businessmen who treat her like an ornament has left a bad taste in her mouth.

And some bruises on her ego.

Love is her job. Not her destiny.

So when she falls for silver fox and self-made millionaire Patrick Cooper, she breaks a rule so taboo, it doesn’t technically exist:

Never fall for the bride’s father.

Enter Patrick, a widowed art dealer with salt-and-pepper charm. He can't resist trying to share an Uber with the captivating, enticingly stubborn blonde. Their encounter? Classic enemies-to-lovers. Sparks fly, but not the good kind... at first.

Starting off on the wrong foot left a terrible impression, but when a series of coincidences pushes them together, the more time they spend with each other, the more the lines blur.

Chance favors the risk-takers, so when he takes a leap of faith and gets a passionate kiss that rocks his world, Katie opens closed doors in his heart.

Can he really have a new soulmate —

Or is this just a May-December fling?

Welcome to the Whatever It Takes series, where every book is a complete HEA and a standalone within the same world, with one couple per book:

Every bride needs something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue -

But you know what brides don't need?

Complications.

Welcome to Wedding Protectors, Inc. Have a spritzer or a latte or some lovely Zen tea and sink into a comfortable chair in our sunlit offices as we listen to your wedding problem – and form the perfect solution to every possible contingency.

We plan for everything.

Except our own love lives.

But that's not your problem. ;)

I’m pretty much obsessed with all of Julia Kent’s series and this one is no different. I love love love Katie and Patrick together. There were some cameos from much loved characters and plenty of hilarity to keep me basically glued to my kindle. There was a little bit of angst but it kept the story balanced. I definitely need more of this series! Wedding Protectors is so much fun!

I swear, Julia Kent knows how to tell great stories! I have yet to be disappointed. I had to “knock off” a star only because it was over too quickly! But at this rate, this series is going to be lots of fun! Can’t wait for the next one!
  • Who wants to order an Uber now?

Never Fall for the Bride’s Father, book 2 of the Whatever It Takes series written by Julia Kent. Ms Kent is one of my very favorite authors for very good reason! We always get an original and entertaining book with enough craziness and sexiness in it to make it all stick together and keep us from wanting to put it down! This series about the Wedding Protectors is lots of fun and this book gives us a little out of the norm leading man…. He isn’t a spring chicken but he is young enough to be worth it! Let’s see how long they can keep their hands or lips off each other! Can someone call me an Uber please? I want to see if mine comes with a hot guy in it!

Never Fall For The Bride’s Father is the second book in the Whatever It Takes series by Julia Kent. “No catastrophe can faze wedding protector Katie Gallagher, but she's steering clear of her own HEA. Love is her job. Not her destiny. So when she falls for silver fox and self-made millionaire Patrick Cooper, she breaks a rule so taboo, it doesn’t technically exist: Never fall for the bride’s father.” I love this author and I love this series. The Wedding Protectors handle all sorts of crazy wedding mishaps. Julia Kent is the Queen of the RomCom and has a knack for creating wacky scenarios and hilarious conversations. The meet cute in this story was when Patrick tried to share the Katie’s Uber, but instead managed to accidentally hijack it, leaving Katie in a downpour. Feeling guilty, Patrick sent his driver to transport Katie to wherever she needed to go. Turned out they were going to the same meeting, and the Patrick tried to ask her on date while she was soaked to the skin and livid. I was laughing so hard so many times during the reading of this book that my son thought I was crying. This is a contemporary romantic comedy which incorporates multiple tropes including Age Gap, Slow Burn, Silver Fox, Widower/Single Dad, Enemies To Lovers, Workplace/Forbidden Romance, and Wedding. Patrick Cooper is delicious and Katie Gallagher is wonderful and both are so deserving of love. There are cameo appearances from a number of characters from the author’s previous books. The secondary characters for this series are a hoot. This was another definite five star read for me and if you enjoy Rom Com, then I suspect you will enjoy it too. I am voluntarily writing this review after reading an advanced complementary copy of this book thanks to Julia Kent. I cannot wait for book 3, Never Date the Minister.

So much fun, laughs and emotion are wrapped up in this newest book by Julia Kent. I admit to some trepidation with Patrick and Katie’s mostly “off” relationship, they start out with an epic misnomer, move through and reconcile, only to run into emotional obstacles. There are many truly beautiful written sentiments here. Well written and fun, do not miss this one.
