  • Well Worth the Read

This is a delightfully penned story written by one of my favorite authors. At first glance in the beginning chapters, I wondered how a horticulturalist could tell an intriguing mystery. I was soon totally engrossed into this mystery. The characters of Delilah and Aiden and just a glimpse of a possible romantic connection, while Ethan adds a note of someone to pose a threat to Delilah and Aiden’s budding friendship. I really liked how Delilah reached out to her sister and best friend when she was feeling discouraged. Their personal insights into Delilah’s character were the very medicine she needed to solve this who-done-it. Well worth the read. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
  • Cheesy but fun

A mystery coated in peat moss and potting soil, it reads like an English class vocabulary exercise! The word verdant appears 40 times in the story and EVERYTHING is described in the language of botany! That said, the book is a quick read with very quirky characters and the narrative is prim and proper with lots of cheesy puns and supporting characters that have names from a garden catalog…..and yet I finished the book with a smile and a look ahead to try another book by this author!

Used too many of the same words in the descriptions of scenes. Repetitive and boring. Not a favorite read. Hope her other mysteries are better.
