Description

The thrilling new novel in the #1 New York Times–bestselling series.

In Southeast Minnesota, down on the Mississippi, a school board meeting is coming to an end. The board chairman announces that the rest of the meeting will be closed, due to personnel issues. “Issues” is correct. The proposal up for a vote before them is whether to authorize the killing of a local reporter. The vote is four to one in favor.

Meanwhile, not far away, Virgil Flowers is helping out a friend by looking into a dognapping, which seems to be turning into something much bigger and uglier—a team of dognappers supplying medical labs—when he gets a call from Lucas Davenport. A murdered body has been found—and the victim is a local reporter. . . .

One of the best final chapters ever written. The visual picture of the chaos and ensuing mayhem inflicted by the amazon “Auntie Vigilantes” had me howling! GREAT READ!

I love the pace and tone of the Flowers books, this one especially. The action was great (with just the right amount of TFF humor) even if the story was a bit predictable. It's fun going back and forth between the Virgil and Davenport stories, seeing where they intersect and how these two characters approach their mysteries in their own very distinct styles.

This book was a relief to the need for another Virgil Flowers book. Yet in the need for another book there was something about it that was lacking the hook that made me like the rest of the series. In all it was still a great book.

Writes a great book. Keeps your interest the entire book. Doesn't leave you guessing about what he writes and yet maintains your interest thru the entire book, right up until the last page.
