Description

Nalini Singh returns to the world of the Guild Hunters for the most highly anticipated novel of the beloved series—a love story so epic it’s been half a millennia in the making…

Illium and Aodhan.  Aodhan and Illium. For centuries they’ve been inseparable: the best of friends, closer than brothers, companions of the heart. But that was before—before darkness befell Aodhan and shattered him, body, mind, and soul. Now, at long last, Aodhan is healing, but his new-found strength and independence may come at a devastating cost—his relationship with Illium.

As they serve side by side in China, a territory yet marked by the evil of its former archangel, the secret it holds nightmarish beyond imagining, things come to an explosive decision point. Illium and Aodhan must either walk away from the relationship that has defined them—or step forward into a future that promises a bond infinitely precious in the life of an immortal…but that demands a terrifying vulnerability from two badly bruised hearts.

I’ve been waiting for Illium and Aodhan’s love story since Illium first realized what Aodhan really meant to him. NS as usual did not disappoint. Beautiful story, completely true to the characters. Real Guild Hunter fans will love this book! (By the way it’s stupid to rate this book super low simply because you wanted her to write it a certain way. It smacks of virtue signaling and does nothing for any cause.)

The great Nalini Singh works her literary magic once again in Archangel’s Light. I’ve always loved the relationship between Illium and Aodhan. Nalini builds on this amazing friendship and smoothly transitions it into something even deeper. A quick, well written, heartbreaking, heart mending read! Loved it!!

I am a self proclaimed stan and this book blew me away. The history, the emotions, the ways in which Blue and Sparkles are entwined! Absolutely devastating and wonderful and beautiful. I need more and I cannot wait to see their story unfold💙

I loved this so much. Illium and Aodhan are perfect together. I loved the flashbacks to their childhood and past. They were so adorable as kids! I’m also glad we learned the full story of what happened to Aodhan. It was so sad but his frustration and outbursts made sense. And I loved the insight we got into Illium. I loved seeing him so vulnerable. I never truly realized how all of the traumas from his past truly effected him as a person. This book provided great insights to them individually and to their shared friendship. Even though the romance didn’t occur until the last few chapters, the story was amazing. Plus I heard they would get more books so I’m excited! I also liked the subplot surrounding the abandoned village and everything they found there. Interested to see how that storyline evolves. I also loved Suyin a lot. I hope she gets a book in the future too. Overall, great addition to the series. Can’t wait for the next book.

This was so wonderfully written, the details and depth of not only Aodhan and Illium’s friendship and their growth and relationship evolving but their friendship and place in Raphael’s Seven was so great to read and there just wasn’t enough chapters. I’m ready for another book already!
  • Unexpectedly Wholesome

I’ve let this book sink in overnight after reading before writing this review and I think the best way to sum it up is - wholesome. Which doesn’t seem to fit the setting of post-war China after the angel of death left her mark and there are some horrific things left behind. Even so, more than a shocking adventure story it is an extreme slow burn where we learn about the childhood between the two main characters and how the world tried to hurt them. Slight spoilers ahead - I give major props for the lgbtqia+ inclusion of the main characters but do not go into this expecting wild and passionate love scenes (which I admit I did as that’s something that Author Singh does really well). Instead expect a look into their pasts and an almost chaste exploration between two people who have know each other for centuries.
