Charlotte Waters does not wish to leave England to travel the world with her parents, again. She needs to find a husband, quickly, in order to stay in London. Since her come out, she has had a tendre for the Earl of Hurlston, but he is betrothed and lost to her. She needs to find someone else. Or maybe not. Fate may have other ideas. When Winston Bell, Earl of Hurlston, is in danger, Charlotte and her deadly parasol come to his rescue. She is strong and kind, and he finds himself depending on her. Who wishes to harm the earl? Why? This is an interesting and exciting story. There is drama, danger, twists, turns, surprises, and a curious cast of characters. An enjoyable read. I received an ARC of this book via BookSprout. My review is voluntary.

A fun who done it mystery story. Winston Bell is a popular Earl, finally he had the banns read for his arranged marriage to Elizabeth. She is a “cold fish” and there should be warning bells going off loudly for Winston. Charlotte is a wallflower that has a secret crush on a Earl that she can never have. As luck would have it while strolling with her friends through Hyde Park she notices riders racing toward Winston and his mother. Without a second thought she runs towards them banishing her parasol. And so starts one of several events that seems almost deadly. The story is fast moving, a few twists and turns, with a few good laughs thrown in. The who done it wasn’t that surprising, but a fun read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
