Description

Just as readers have been transfixed by the stories, characters, and deeper meanings of Lewis's timeless tales in The Chronicles of Narnia, most find this same allure in his classic Space Trilogy. In these fantasy stories for adults, we encounter, once again, magical creatures, a world of wonders, epic battles, and revelations of transcendent truths.

Out of the Silent Planet is the first novel in C. S. Lewis's classic science fiction trilogy. It tells the adventure of Dr. Ransom, a Cambridge academic, who is abducted and taken on a spaceship to the red planet of Malacandra, which he knows as Mars. His captors are plotting to plunder the planet's treasures and plan to offer Ransom as a sacrifice to the creatures who live there. Ransom discovers he has come from the "silent planet"—Earth—whose tragic story is known throughout the universe!

I bought the book containing all three books. What a mistakes. I kept reading the first book hoping it would make some sense. Started the second and it isn’t much better. I enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia so I thought I might enjoy this. WRONG!!!

This series was so pathetically filled with misogynistic tripe as to be nearly unreadable. Not a book to be set aside lightly, but rather one to be thrown with great force.

He intertwines his views of reality and of the spiritual realms (as I’ve gathered from his apologetics) flawlessly through the context of a space fantasy. If you love Jack - you must read this trilogy.

Simple and enjoyable. My favorite part of any C.S. Lewis book it's ability to get you thinking about concepts of eternity. Also, when he describes the peace felt on another planet, that can actually be felt on this planet. I first experienced this peace about 18 years ago after surrendering to the God that was pursuing me. Perhaps this book will help you understand the peace you could have.....while you enjoy a fun story!
