It is a really captivating and interesting story! I thought the story was well done, and I enjoyed learning about this event in history. I knew nothing about rowing and its complexities. I was captured by the richness of this book, now I am interested in rowing. Great book, highly recommend!

Wonderful book. I knew Joe and Joyce personally and shared home visits with them. We attended Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church together. My wife even took a woman's "car maintenance" class from Joe. I knew this wonderful kind gentleman as shy and caring, now I better understand why. Thank you Daniel James Brown for your literary masterpiece that ALL men & boys should read as a genuine guide into "manhood"! Daniel T. Tradal
